About European Dental Group
Bart Vinke, dentist for 18 years, co-founded Dental Clinics in the Netherlands with one vision: creating a nationwide leading oral care organisation. The first clinics opened in Zwolle, Weesp and Maastricht. In 2023, there are already more than 110 clinics of Dental Clinics.
To expand the specialized care offer, we developed a chain of orthodontics clinics called TopOrtho.
European Dental Group was created by Nordic Capital via the simultaneous acquisition of Dental Clinics and TopOrtho in the Netherlands, Flemming dental labs and a small dental chain in Germany and Adent in Switzerland.
Subsequently, we acquired Excent dental labs in the Netherlands and Belgium and Artinorway dental labs in Norway. We also kickstarted a specialized complex dental treatments referral chain with the acquisition of Proclin.
By the end of 2018, we had founded an integrated, quality driven network of professionals with operations in five European countries.
In 2019, we marked a significant expansion of our specialized dental care offering in the Dutch organisation. We acquired MKA Group – oral surgery provider with five locations and MondzorgPlus – a leading dental care provider in elderly care homes.
In 2020, we expanded our presence in Belgium via the strategic partnership with MOND, a quality-driven dental clinics chain of 15 clinics.
Largest provider of elderly dental care
We also became the largest provider of elderly dental care with the acquisition of Omnios, serving more than 20,000 elderly patients across the Netherlands.
In 2021, we expanded in the UK with the acquisition of Dental Beauty Partners, a quality-driven chain of mixed (national health services and private dentistry) partner-led practices
Introducing new business model
We introduced a new business model, which focused on supporting young and ambitious dentists to invest and build their own practices with help from the colleagues our shared service center in Hilversum.
2022 started with our entry into Europe’s second largest dental care market – France – with the acquisition of Medident, a group of 18 dental and medical centres. We also acquired Manchester-based Kiss Dental – a leading cosmetic dentistry chain. Our German clinics rebranded under the umbrella of Dein Dental after the acquisition of the eponymous dental chain in the Bad Kreuznach district.
We look at exciting times ahead, continuing care for our more than 1.1 million patients across Europe and building a future on a solid foundation of more than 240 oral care clinics and 79 labs in 7 countries.
